Visit of parliamentarians to Nowiny Cement Plant
During a visit to our cement plant, MP Andrzej Szejna, Chairman of the Parliamentary Group for the Development of the Cement Industry in Poland, MP Joanna Scheuring-Wielgus and MP Włodzimierz Czarzasty learned about the cement production process and the challenges facing the sector. We were also visited by Mr. Krzysztof Kieres - Chairman of the Association of Cement Producers together with a group of SPC employees.
The meeting was hosted by Mr. Miroslaw Majchrowicz - Managing Director of Dyckerhoff Poland. They discussed, among other things, the challenges facing modern housing construction.
Members asked, among other things, about CO2 emissions, resulting from the production of cement. Representatives of SPC talked about the efforts of the cement industry to achieve carbon neutrality in 2050.They discussed the implementation of technologies for capturing, liquefying and then storing or processing CO2, i.e. CCS or CCU technology.
Members also learned about the process of extracting raw material - limestone - by blasting, and then observed the firing of clinker in a cement kiln. We were congratulated for implementing and adhering to the highest standards of occupational safety.
