St. Barbara's Day Celebration at Dyckerhoff Poland

St. Barbara's Day, the patron saint of miners, was joyfully celebrated at Dyckerhoff Polska, providing an opportunity to appreciate the hard work and foster camaraderie among employees and invited guests. Everyone had a great time with music, dances, and humor provided by the Rak Cabaret. During the festivities, Mr. Mirosław Majchrowicz, the President of Dyckerhoff Polska Sp. z o.o., was honored to receive a medal from the union representatives on the occasion of the 130th anniversary of the Construction Workers' Trade Union Movement in Poland.

In addition to the traditional Beer Tavern, last year marked the inaugural Women's Gathering at the plant, which has now become a tradition. This year was no different. Men enjoyed themselves at the Tavern, where the lively atmosphere was fueled by Wysokie, and in the Beer Affairs, the Ever-Infallible Presidium and Kontrapunkci were responsible for leading the revelry on both the right and left benches. Meanwhile, the ladies celebrated just as festively at the Women's Gathering, featuring dances, games, and great humor. The climax of St. Barbara's Day occurred when both venues merged into one.

The Beer Tavern tradition in Europe dates back to the 17th/19th century. Today, the Miners' Gathering also pays homage to the gatherings of miners who, after a hard day's work, would come together to find solace in carefree conversation, even frivolous dialogue, accompanied by songs and a mug of beer.

The Women's Gathering, known as "Babski Comber," is a traditional meeting for women, created in response to the miners' festivities from which women were excluded. Women established their own event, complete with their own High and Infallible Presidium and stewards. Contemporary celebrations have incorporated Comber into St. Barbara's Day festivities in workplaces, where women, too, celebrate their holiday as miners. This blending of tradition with societal changes has proven to be a perfect harmony in practice.
